🧠 Cognitive & Neural Mechanisms of Implicit Learning and Consciousness
What can humans learn without awareness? Using perceptual sequence learning and consciousness-science paradigms such as breaking continuous flash suppression (bCFS), combined with behavioral and neuroimaging methods, we study the boundary conditions and neural mechanisms of unconscious learning, and the role of metacognition in self-assessment. This line of work has been presented repeatedly at the annual meetings of the Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness (ASSC).
🤖 Crossmodal Learning & Artificial Intelligence
As part of the Sino-German project “Crossmodal Learning: Adaptivity, Prediction and Interaction” (jointly funded by DFG and NSFC), we investigate the computational mechanisms of human crossmodal learning and their implications for AI, and study public coping behaviors under the challenge of artificial intelligence (Zhejiang Provincial Philosophy and Social Sciences Planning Project).
🧘 Mindfulness Interventions & Mind–Body Health
We study the effects and neural mechanisms of brief mindfulness training on test anxiety, sleep and beyond: collaborating with iRest on massage-chair mindfulness-assisted sleep programs; using fNIRS hyperscanning to examine how mechanical massage combined with mindfulness shapes group creativity; and developing applied products such as mindfulness meditation audio programs and mindful walking protocols (multiple software copyrights and registered works).
🌱 Adolescent Mental Health & Computational Modeling
Using network analysis, Bayesian networks, chain mediation models and nomograms, we investigate the mechanisms of adolescent depression, social anxiety and interpersonal sensitivity, with special attention to left-behind and migrant children, and explore how cultural practices such as Chinese calligraphy training influence children’s cognitive functions.
🔬 Animal Models & Interdisciplinary Collaboration
Earlier work involved rat models of the interaction between neuropathic pain and depression (spinal glucocorticoid receptor signaling). We currently collaborate with pharmacy and rehabilitation medicine on motor-imagery EEG studies of stroke rehabilitation and selenium-based ROS-scavenging therapeutic systems.
